JAMMU, Sept 17: Range Police Headquarters (RPHQ), Jammu, organized a drug awareness campaign here the other day.
The program organised at Sainik Cooperative Public School in Sainik Colony, Jammu, was part of the Civic Action Programme under the leadership of DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, Shakti Kumar Pathak.
A press statement said that the event saw the active participation of students, staff, and civil society members from the surrounding area.
It commenced with a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, Rajinder Singh Katoch, SSP, SO to DIG Jammu, and Guest of Honour, SP South, Shaheen Wahid.
Chief Guest Rajinder Singh Katoch highlighted the importance of such programs and revealed that RPHQ Jammu plans to organize similar events in the jurisdiction of every police station in Jammu, Samba, and Kathua Districts.
He encouraged students to not only focus on academics but also engage in sports and cultural activities while steering clear of drugs and negative influences.
Guest of Honour Shaheen Wahid, SP South, Jammu, along with Dr Shehnaz Bhat, Incharge of Drug De-addiction Centre in Jammu, educated the students about the types and harmful effects of drugs. They emphasized the need for students to stay away from drugs and reduce excessive use of social media.
During the program, students delivered essays on the adverse effects of drugs, and a former drug addict shared his personal story. He recounted how he had been trapped in the web of drug addiction and its devastating consequences. His message to students was to engage in sports, focus on their studies, and always listen to their parents.
PSI Heena Bashir of PS Channi Himmat, Jammu, efficiently conducted the program, ensuring its smooth flow.
