RPI, Parivartan leaders detained during protest

JAMMU, Feb 20: Police detained leaders of Republican Party of India (RPI) and Parivartan Movement, who were protesting against continued neglect of 60,000 daily wagers and alleged anti-youth decisions of the Government.
They were also highlighting the grievances of the candidates who had applied for Border Battalion proposed by the Government in 2019.
RPI (J&K) president Tanveer Hussain, RPI vice President Raj Kumar Goyal and Parivartan Movement chief Sunil Singh Kamboj were among the protesters, who were detained by police during the protest.
The protesters were raising slogan against the Government and demanded that daily wagers should get their rights as promised by the successive Governments for years.
“Even after the abrogation of Article 370, future of thousands of DRW workers engaged in PHE, PDD, PWD (R&B), Agriculture Department, Estates Department, Floriculture Department, PMGSY for decades hangs in balance as UT administration has failed to come up with any concrete policy for their regularization,” said Tanveer.
