JAMMU, Mar 28: A Passport Mela was conducted in the office premises of Regional Passport Office here today.
A large number of applicants availed this opportunity as the number of applications accepted are around 200% of the designed capacity. A large number of applicants, who were otherwise in a queue for appointments, could submit their forms on the same day. Those who are eligible for No-Verification, will be issued Passport on Monday instant.
While speaking on the occasion, Rajinder Gupta, Regional Passport Officer, said that this was the last Mela of the current financial year. “However, the office is now planning to organize Passport Camp(s) in rural districts in the coming months so as to take the Passport services to the citizens’ doorstep”, he added.
It is pertinent to mention that highest number of Passports have been issued this year ever since this Passport Office was established.
