KALAKOTE, Apr 27: A veterans rally was organised at Kalakote by the Reasi based Rashtriya Rifles Uniform Force.
The rally was inaugurated by the GOC in presence of dignitaries from the civil administration. 930 veterans and 35 Veer Naris from the districts of Rajouri and Reasi attended the meet.
The aim of the rally was to interact with the veterans and the Veer Naris and listen to their grievances and render solution.
During the rally, the veterans were apprised of various welfare schemes initiated by Army, Central and State Government for the ex-servicemen, war-widows and their children.
They were also apprised about the resettlement and second employment avenues. Various stalls were established by the representatives from Zila Sainik Board, SBI, J&K Bank, HDFC, Social Welfare, Horticulture, Agriculture, Health, Animal Husbandry, Sericulture, Fishery, Tourism Department, ECHS, Red Cross Society and Army Recruiting Office at the site for the convenience of the veterans apart from resolving pension and resettlement related issues.
A free medical and dental check up was also organised for the participants. A total of 21 information stalls were established at the rally site that rendered on the spot help and advice at the venue.
The GOC praised and acknowledged the sacrifices made by the defence veterans over the years towards nation building. He informed the veterans and Veer Naris about the efforts being made by Indian Army for their welfare and betterment. During his interaction with the Veterans, the General also promised them of all possible assistance to address their pension-related and other grievances and for their resettlement, financial upliftment and healthcare.
The families of martyr soldiers and gallantry award winners who sacrificed their lives during various operations were felicitated by GOC during his interaction with them.
The highlight of the rally was the ‘Suvigya Package’ stall which was established for the veterans to resolve the pension related issues as well as know their correct pension entitlement and also interact with officials from JAK LI, JAK Rif, Punjab, Dogra, EME, ASC & AIR Defence Records offices including representative from Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Allahabad), the civil administration, civil police, BSF, CRPF and bank officials apart from interacting with civil administration officials.
As part of the event, a band display, horse show, dog show and various cultural programmes were also conducted.
