Udhampur, Aug 7: In an endeavor to promote education in the far reaches of Pir Panjal Ranges, the Rashtriya Rifles battalion at Bagga under the aegis of Rashtriya Rifles Uniform Force Headquarters based at Reasi, donated furniture, books and various ancillary items for the students of Government Primary Schools at Bhalkote and Upper Sharitund.
The people centric approach and concerted drive by the battalion to promote education in the region has won accolades from the local population. The Army officials said that education of children is the key to growth of the nation. A lecture on various educational schemes by the government was also conducted for the children.
Speaking on the occasion, Headmaster of Government Primary School, Bhalkote Mohd Iqbal remarks, ‘This noble gesture by the Rashtriya Rifles will go a long way in improving elementary education of our children who will cherish it in their hearts forever’.
