Rs 15,000 fine imposed

Srinagar, Sept 4: Legal Metrology officials today fined a firm in Jammu an amount of Rs 15,000 for carrying an advertisement in the print media in violation of Packaged Commodities Rules.
Acting on a compliant lodged by a Valley-based citizen against the firm, Assistant Controller Legal Metrology, Kewal Krishan, and Deputy Controller, Srinagar, collected evidence against the firm and served a legal notice to the firm for breach of various provisions of  Packaged Commodities Rules.
“The management of the firm, which does whole-sale business of various products such as consumable goods like edible oil, food packages as well as durable goods like TV/LED/computer accessories, confessed the violation and ensured the department that the same shall be rectified within one week,” an official of the department said.
He said the department slapped a fine of Rs 15,000 on the management for carrying catchy advertisement.
