Rs 2585 lakh sanctioned for diversion channel in Kathua: Taj

SRINAGAR, Oct 4: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Taj Mohi-ud-Din today informed the Legislative Assembly that the project for construction of diversion channel-cum-water supply scheme (Check dams) in Wajoo Nallah at village Khokhyal in tehsil and district Kathua having estimated cost of Rs 2585.15 lakh has been sanctioned and approved under AIBP schemes.
He said land compensation amounting to Rs. 30 lakh was reflected in the DPR which stands released and placed at the disposal of Collector Land Acquisition. During the Revised Estimates of 2011-12, a tentative amount of  Rs. 195 lakh was projected as land compensation to the Planning and Development Department. But the Planning and Development Department did not release the required funds. Now the final award amounting Rs. 391.88 lakh has been issued by the concerned authority which is being again reflected in the current year’s Revised Estimates and as and when the funds are released by the Planning and Development Department, the same will be placed at the disposal of Collector Land Acquisition for disbursement among the land owners so that works are resumed.
