Rs 50 lakh yet to be released for Mandi Hospital: Sham

JAMMU, Feb 21: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma informed the House that a full-fledged Community Health Centre (CHC) is functional at Mandi with diagnostic, operation theatre and laboratory facilities besides keeping in view the increasing patient load infrastructure facilities are being augmented.
The Minister was replying to a Calling Attention Notice by Dr. Shehnaz Ganai in the Legislative Council today. He informed that the Super structure of Labour Room-cum-Ward has been completed, finishing work is in progress and Rs. 20 lakh have been released to the executing agencies for completing the project besides Rs. 78.78 lakh has also been released for additional residential quarters. The repair and renovation of Medical Officer’s and BMO quarters have also been completed, he added.
Mr. Sharma further informed that a proposal for upgradation of existing infrastructure at CHC Mandi was taken up with the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for approval. An amount of Rs. 50 lakh have been approved during the current financial year but funds are yet to be released.
