Mohammad Yusuf Lone (consumer No. 0212010015361) son of Abdul Rehman Lone of Kralhar in Baramulla district was shocked to get an electricity bill of Rs 59, 395 for the month of November 2022 having consumed 14000 units of electricity.
His previous bill for the month of August was Rs 1147 and according to previous electricity bills’ data he has consumed 3800 units in 15 months, from April 2021 to June 2022, which is on an average 253 units per month.
Lone said that prior to this he received a bill in September 2022 for the month of August. “I didn’t receive any bills for the months of September 2022 and October 2022 but got a shocker in December when I received the bill for the month of November 2022”, he said.
“I normally get a monthly bill of between Rs 550 to Rs 580. I normally consumed 250 units of electricity monthly. How come I consume 14000 units in three months when it should have been around 750 units,” he said.
Lone said that he met the PDD officials in Baramulla and showed them the bill including previous ones. “They don’t give me a proper response despite visiting the PDD office few times,” he said.
An official of the PDD told Excelsior that they will look into it.
