JAMMU, Mar 27: Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh today said that Housing and Urban Development Department has submitted a concept paper to the Union Ministry of Urban Development projecting requirement of Rs 815 crore for a period of 5 years.
The project has been made for conversion of insanitary latrines to sanitary ones, construction of sanitary latrines by the households who defecate in open and construction of community latrines for the families who do not have space for the construction of individual latrines within their premises.
Replying to the question of BJP MLA from R S Pura, Dr Gagan Bhagat, he said that for the management of the solid waste, cluster approach will be adopted, where under solid waste management will be established for group of towns. “There is no provision of construction or converting kachha house into concrete houses under the Swachh Bharat Mission”, he added.
Deputy Chief Minister said that Swachh Bharat Mission was launched by the Centre on October 2, 2014 and J&K has also committed itself to the mission.
In response to another question, he said that revenue papers regarding declaration of Miran Sahib as Municipal Committee have been received by the Housing and Urban Development Department from Deputy Commissioner Jammu. “While scrutinizing the papers it was found that the same were not in accordance with the Government order and DC Jammu has been again asked to furnish the information strictly in accordance with the Government order which is still awaited”, he added.
