JAMMU, July 20: Reiterating that no leniency should be shown to terrorists and anti national elements, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) today categorically said that tough stand needs to be taken to curb terrorism.
Presenting the RSS point of view in front of media persons during a press conference here today along with Sangchalak, Brig. (retd) Suchet Singh, RSS Prachar Parmukh Dr Manmohan Vaidya said that terrorists and anti national elements need to be dealt sternly.

The press conference was organized to brief the media about the three day long Sangh Pracharks Samelan which is underway at Ved Mandir here from July 18. Dr Vaidya said though the discussions and debates in the Samelan were only confined to Sangh activities but this issue as well as the Bengal issue were brought in the notice of Sangh leadership also.
He said Sangh is for strong action against the terrorists and anti national elements and there are no two thoughts in it. He was replying to a question from a media person that there is total unrest in Kashmir valley for last one year and what is the stand of RSS on it.
In response to another question that previous Congress Government wanted to interrogate the RSS Sarsanghchalak, Dr Mohan Rao Bhagwat, he said such things should not be politicized. “India is a Hindu Rashtra and the Congress has been exposed now before the people on this issue”, he added.
“To use the identity of this country for political ends is wrong”, he said, adding this is not in the longer interests of the nation also.
On the illegal immigration of Burmese in Jammu, he said the migrants should be detected first and thrown out wherever they are in the country by informing the concerned Governments of those countries where from they have come. “We are facing a grave problem of immigrants in Assam where a demographic change has taken place as these immigrants have become the citizens there”, he added.
In response to a question on some Gau Rakshaks resorting to violence, Dr Vaidya said that while Sangh strongly backs the cow protection but, at the same time, it does not support violence on the name of cow protection. “No one should take law into his own hands and it should be allowed to take its own course”, he added.
The RSS leader also asserted that the thought should be given to grant of minority status to Hindus in J&K in response to a question that the minorities in the State demand that they should be given the minority status.
When asked whether Sangh also played a role in the election of Ramnath Kovind as President of India, he replied that Sangh has no role to play in it as he was a BJP man and has also remained the Governor. But he has been elected as President and every one should respect the decision, he added.
When asked whether the Sangh discussed Article 370 issue as Panun Kashmir president, Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo had written a letter to one of the senior functionaries of the Sangh demanding the abrogation of this Article from Constitution of India and the issue be raised by the Sangh in the Pracharks Samelan, Dr Vaidya said, “Sangh has not received any such letter and if they are so keen they should have come and discussed the issue with us”. I only came to know about it through media, he added.
Earlier, Dr Vaidya gave brief of three days Samelan of the Sangh saying that three types of Samelans are held by RSS in a year and this Samelan which is held in July entirely discussed the issues pertaining to functioning of RSS Shakhas and future planning and no decisions are taken in it. The Samelan is purely attended by Sangh Pracharks and senior functionaries of the organization, he added.
He said important office bearers meeting is held in October and March and many decisions are taken in these meetings. He added during the summer break training camps are held all over the country and the activists participating in these camps do not get certificates but they dedicate themselves to Sangh to serve the nation.
Dr Vaidya said 60 such camps were held all over the country and 15816 activists from the age group of 15 to 40 years were imparted training in these camps.
He said besides 14 camps are held for 20 days duration in which 3800 activists of Sangh participated and one camp is held at Nagpur for 25 days in which 900 people participated, he added.
Giving further details, he said 51688 Shakhas are taking place from Ladakh to Andaman and the places where daily Shakhas are not possible weekly Shakhas are held. At present 13432 such Shakhas are also held and their number has increased by 999.
He said there are Vistarks and Pracharaks in the Sangh terminology. Those who are new comers are called Vistarks and those who are trained are called Pracharks and these people give their whole time to Sangh for nation building.
At present there are 2965 Vistarks and Pracharks in the country and their number increased by 25 this year.
He said though Sangh does not keep account that how many people joined RSS but as per the Sangh Website 13824 requests were received from the people in 2015 who wanted to join Sangh. This increased to 47209 in 2016 and 81872 in 2017, he added.
Dr Vaidya said in the Samelan next year plan of Sangh was chalked out. Besides, the country is going to face water crisis as the water level is decreasing so Sangh has decided to start the rally for rivers in October to create awareness among the people on conservation of water, he added.
In addition to this, it was also decided that how the Sangh can be popularized among college students also how the Balak Kalyan Varg can be organized.
He said the Sangh activists’ role for working of development activities was discussed and at present 1100 in villages such activities are taking place.
He said in addition to it issue of social equality (Samajik Samrasta) was also discussed and ways and means to create awareness among people for protecting the local cow which is beneficial to environment will be protected.
