RTI prompts administration to keep its records in order: Verma

JAMMU, Dec 22: Sangarsh RTI Movement in collaboration with Common Wealth Human Rights Initiative organized one day awareness workshop on Right to Information Act here at Handa College of Education, Sainik Colony.
Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Sanjeev Verma who was chief guest inaugurated the workshop.  Dr. Vikram Handa, Director of the College was also present on the occasion.
Mr Verma while addressing the gathering on holding such awareness programmes. He lauded the role of Sangarsh RTI group for organizing awareness programme.
He further said RTI Act should be seen as a friend to the officers and the Government as it encourages the honest officers to take right decision without any pressure and also prompts the administration to keep its records and files in order.
Balvinder Singh, Convener of the Sangarsh shared the success stories of his organization where the members of his group are able to unearth major scams and frauds. He urged the participants to be vigilant about their rights and use them for the welfare of the society.
RTI activist Raman Sharma through his power point presentation threw light on various important sections of the Jammu and Kashmir Right to Information Act 2009.
Besides the students, staff members of the College, locals people of the area and NGO members attended the programme. Social activists, Varinder Ambardar and Darvinder Singh  presented  vote of thanks.
