RTO cracks down on unauthorised “Jugnoo” Cab Service

Srinagar, Oct 12: The enforcement team of the Regional Transport Office Kashmir carried out a sting operation today, resulting in the seizure of three private vehicles used by the unauthorised cab service “Jugnoo.”

According to the spokesperson of the RTO, a surprise sting operation was conducted under the direction of the Regional Transport Office (RTO) Kashmir. The operation was led by Dr. Farhana Asgar, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) of Srinagar Headquarters.
“The enforcement team acted in strict accordance with the Motor Vehicles Act (MVA) and the Central Motor Vehicles Rules (CMVR). This action exemplifies RTO Kashmir’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and legal compliance of transportation services in the region,” he said.
The spokesperson further said, “we have recommended filing an FIR against the unregistered cab service through the Cyber Police Station in Srinagar.”
He added that the confiscated vehicles, which bear the registration numbers CH01AW-8495 (Toyota Etios), JK01Q-5609 (Maruti A-Star), and JK01AK-8155 (Maruti Alto K10), were promptly impounded. “The crackdown was initiated in response to a previously filed complaint at the RTO office in Srinagar concerning the unauthorised operation of the “Jugnoo” cab service,” he said.
