RTPP 6th unit work to be completed in 20 months: APGENCo MD

KADAPA, AP, Nov 14: The pending project work of the ongoing sixth unit of 600 MW of RTPP (Rayalaseema Thermal Power Project) will be completed in 20 months, AP Generation Corporation Managing Director K Vijayanand has said.
Addressing different meetings of village sarpanchs, villagers, workers and officials of RTPP yesterday, Vijayanand said the sixth unit works are pending for some time due to various technical and non-technical issues.
But, he assured that all steps were being taken to complete the works within 20 months, adding instructions were issued to the contract company to complete it.
The 1,600 MW works of Krishnapatnam  will be completed by March 2014, he said.
Vijayanand said the state government has accorded sanction for three new projects at Vijayawada, Krishnapatnam and Kothagudem, each of 800 MW units. All the projects are to be completed in four years.
Eight sarpanchs of surrounding villages gave representations and urged the MD to complete the project as per schedule.
Meanwhile, trade union leaders urged the MD to regularise the contract maintenance workers.
Later, Vijayanand along with other officials inspected the site and works of sixth unit. (PTI)
