JAMMU, Nov 24: In a five-day scholarship carnival, Harbans Bhalla Educational Trust (HBET) here today gave scholarships to 600 students from rural areas, over 80 per cent of them girls from economically weaker sections.
A handout of the Trust stated that apart from scholarships, the students will also get free medical and eye checkups.
Anjali Khosla, a large supporter of the Trust since its inception was the chief guest on this occasion who while distributing scholarships impressed upon the children that they are getting an opportunity to achieve excellence in their education and to carve out a bright future for themselves.
She appreciated the efforts of HBET to promote education of girls, particularly those who live in the slums and remote rural areas.
The handout also stated that HBET aims to cover more children in and around Jammu rural areas like Hiranagar, Chak, Rattian, Doomi etc.
