Rural Traffic Police challans vehicles for various offences

JAMMU, Dec 15: Jammu Rural Traffic Police has challaned 149 vehicles for over-loading and booked 2823 other vehicles for offences like driving without licenses, using mobile phones while driving, not wearing crash helmets, triple riding, over speeding and not wearing seat belts during past one week.
SP Traffic Rural Jammu Dushyant Sharma said the drive against violations of traffic rules and regulations has been launched in all rural area of Jammu to enforce strict discipline on the roads.
Sharma said the Rural Traffic Police has realized an amount of Rs 3,77,050 as fine from the traffic rule defaulters. He added that Traffic Police has also seized 17 vehicles for under offences under Section 207 of Motor Vehicles Act.
“As a part of ongoing special drive, all the field officers have been directed to pursue the policy of zero tolerance for the violators indulging in overloading and other offences of traffic violations,” Sharma said.
He added that he also held meeting with ARTO Samba Kuldeep Singh, DySP Traffic JS Sumbrian, Traffic Inspectors and senior citizens of Samba and called for their assistance in improving the traffic scenario in the rural areas of Jammu.
