VIJAYPUR, June 12: Former Minister and MLA S S Slathia  highlighted the developmental plank of National Conference led State Government, saying infrastructural upgradation has been flagged as thrust area to improve the living standard of people today.
Inaugurating 10 MVA Transformer, installed at a cost of Rs 1 crore, Slathia said a concerted effort is being made to meet the requirements like power and drinking water while stress is being laid on overall development of the State, especially its rural and semi-urban pockets.
The transformer will benefit 25,000 people in 20 surrounding villages.
He said developmental transformation will be meaningless unless its benefits reach rural and far off areas. “It is with this view that Omar led Government has accorded top priority to involve local population in the development effort”, he said while referreing to the establishment of Panchayati Raj Institutions to seek greater participation of the rural population in decision making.
He described the Panchayat elections as historic initative of the present Government, saying these have institutionalized rural development on sustained basis. He also made a mention of administrative units and said these will go long way in mitigating the problems of the people, as administration will be virtually at their door steps.
Present on the occasion were Deputy Commissioner Samba R K Verma, Chief Engineer Power Development Department Ms Shehnaz Goni, Executive Engineer S D Singh and other officers.
Later, the people of the area apprised the former Minister about their problems. He said these will be taken up at appropriate level for immediate redressal.
Slathia also interacted with local functionaries and workers of National  Conference.
