RS PURA, May 26: The Rural Women Conclaves were inaugurated at RS Pura and Suchetgarh today by Anissa Nabi, State Project Manager of the J&K State Rural Livelihood Mission.
A statement said that these inaugural events, organised by Dr Navneet Kaur, founder NGO Support, and Vinod Shandli, founder JK JKS, and Ritu Singh, marked a significant initiative for the rural women.
It said over 350 women from 50 villages participated, focusing on empowering rural women and promoting skill-based education.
Twelve speakers addressed the challenges faced by these women and discussed strategies for overcoming them.
The conclave highlighted that despite many rural women being uneducated and poor, they possess valuable skills.
The event underscored ongoing efforts by the Government and NGOs to develop women-centric initiatives.
NGO SUPPORT and JK JKS, led by Dr Navneet Kaur, Vinod Sandhu, and Dr Ritu Singh, are initiating empowerment programs for these women, including skill training and entrepreneurial activities.
The “Adi Shakti” awards were presented to 15 women, including Dr. Sanjogita, Dr Pratiksha, and Manjeet Kaur, recognizing their contributions to the upliftment of rural women.
Anissa Nabi, the Chief Guest on the occasion, praised the initiative, emphasizing the need for a mindset shift towards independence through upskilling and market exploration, aligning with the goals of Mission UMEED.
She stressed the importance of education and awareness in achieving these objectives and encouraged more rural women to join the mission to become financially independent.
Dr Navneet Kaur highlighted that the discussions from the conclave would improve the working conditions for rural women, helping them become winners.
The conclave also saw the launch of small canteens in 30 villages, selling organic pulses and grains.
Vinod Shandil spoke about the hardships faced by these women and the solutions provided by their organizations, which have skilled over 1,700 women and girls.
Ashok Sharma, representing Ritu Singh, presented upcoming projects like “Bhumika” and “waste to wealth” management.
A book “Atamnirbhar Batien,” written by Nisha Kapoor was released and distributed among the participants.
Manjeet Kaur of JK JKS gave the vote of thanks, and certificates were distributed by Dr Navneet Kaur and Vinod Shandil.
