MOSCOW, Nov 30: The Russian government announced on Saturday that the temporary ban on gasoline exports would be lifted for fuel producers and extended until January 31 for everybody else.
“The temporary ban on gasoline exports, introduced until the end of 2024, has been extended until January 31, 2025,” the government said, adding that “the restriction will not apply to supplies carried out by direct producers of oil products.”
Eligible producers include enterprises with a production capacity of more than 1 million tonnes per year.
The decision was made to maintain a stable situation on the domestic market, support the oil refining economy and counteract the so-called gray exports of gasoline, which means a scheme where traders buy fuel at domestic market price and sell it for export at a higher price.
Russia has had a ban on the export of gasoline abroad, except for the Eurasian Economic Union countries, since March 1. It was temporarily suspended at the end of May and resumed in August.
