MOSCOW, Jan 6 : Russia has requested a meeting of the UN Security Council on supplies of Western weapons to Ukraine on January 22, a source in the Security Council told Sputnik.
“Russia has requested a meeting on the topic of arms supplies to Kiev on January 22,” the source said.
Meanwhile, Western countries have requested a UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine on January 10.
Russia earlier sent a note to NATO over arms supplies to Ukraine. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said any cargo that contains weapons for Ukraine would become a legitimate target for Russia.
Russia’s First Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dmitry Polyanskiy has confirmed that the meeting was requested.
“I confirm that the meeting was requested,” Polyanskiy wrote on Telegram. (UNI)
