Russia says it foiled terrorist plot in Moscow

MOSCOW, Apr 4: Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said Friday that it had foiled a terrorist attack targeting a dormitory housing cadets in Moscow.

A serviceman from the Russian Defence Ministry was detained during the seizure of components intended for manufacturing an explosive device, said the FSB in a statement. The serviceman, it said, had been recruited by Ukrainian intelligence.

Authorities have launched a criminal case on charges of preparing a terrorist act and illegally possessing explosives, it added.

Last week, the FSB reported thwarting a terrorist attack in a Moscow office building, where a suspect, allegedly recruited by Ukraine’s special services, planned to detonate an improvised explosive device in a crowded area. (UNI)
