SEOUL, Mar 18: The Russian Embassy in North Korea has held a reception commemorating the 76th anniversary of the signing of the Agreement on Economic and Cultural Cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported on Tuesday.
“Alexandr Matsegora, Russian ambassador to the DPRK, hosted a reception at the Taedonggang Diplomatic Club on Monday to mark the 76th anniversary of the conclusion of the agreement on economic and cultural cooperation between the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the Russian Federation. Present there on invitation were Minister of Culture Sung Jong Gyu, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Kim Jong Gyu, Vice-Minister of External Economic Relations Ryu Un Hae, Vice-Minister of Education Ri Chang Sik and officials concerned of the DPRK,” KCNA reported.
The embassy staff also took part in the reception, and the Russian ambassador and the North Korean culture minister delivered speeches.
Matsegora noted that all these years, despite the situation in the world and in both Russia and North Korea, Moscow and Pyongyang have managed to maintain good relations. When Russia needed support, North Korea was the first state to provide it, the diplomat emphasized, calling Pyongyang’s support “priceless.”
The participants of the reception raised their glasses to the indissoluble bonds of friendship between Moscow and Pyongyang, the agreement’s anniversary, as well as to the Russian and North Korean leaders. (UNI)
