S Mishra takes over as Member Traffic, Railway Board

NEW DELHI: Purnendu S Mishra, Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) Officer of 1982
Batch, took over as new Member Traffic, Railway Board and Ex-officio Secretary to the Government of India in the afternoon of July 17.
Prior to joining this post, Mr Mishra was the General Manager of South Eastern Railway and Eastern Railway.
Mr Mishra worked in various capacities viz. General Manager, (East Coast Railway, Bhubaneswar),
Principal Chief Operations Manager (Western Railway, Mumbai), Advisor (Safety), Executive
Director (Corporate Coordination), Railway Board, Divisional Railway Manager (South East
Central Railway, Raipur) and Chief Transportation Planning Manager (South Eastern Railway),
Railway Ministry said in a statement here on Thursday.
Apart from this, Mr Mishra worked as Chief Freight Transportation Manager, Chief Transportation
Planning Manager & Chief Passenger Transportation Manager, both in East Coast Railway and East
Central Railway.
He has undergone various training programmes abroad viz. Advanced Leadership Programme and Advanced Strategy Management Programme in Pittsburg, US and Long Haul Operations in South Africa. He has keen interest in sports and welfare activities.
