JAMMU, Oct 14: The holy Saakh was today immersed in the waters of river Tawi here while the devotees also performed the ritual of Kanya Pujan (worshipping girls) to mark the conclusion of Navratras.
It is pertinent to mention here that this time there were eight Navratras while usually there are nine such auspicious days during which many people observe fasts and offer prayers to the Goddess Durga.
Many new things are started in these days as it is considered auspicious to make new beginnings in these days.
Record number of devotees visited the temples, especially the prominent ones like Bawe Wali Mata Mandir, Kol Kandoli Mandir (in Nagrota), Chichi Mata Mandir (in Samba) etc in Jammu region during these days.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Navratras remained a low profile event with mere performing of the important ritual last year due to restrictions of COVID-19 pandemic while such restrictions were eased to a large extent this year which in turn triggered large number of devotees to visit temples for paying obeisance to the Goddesses.
As per ritual, the Saakh (barley seeds) is sowed at the start of Navratras which gets sprouted in these auspicious days and ultimately immersed in the water of river Tawi at the culmination of Navratras.
