JAMMU, Mar 20: The Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS) today strongly reacted to the statement made by former Chief Minster and vice president of the National Conference, Omar Abdullah, regarding the much touted film “The Kashmir Files”, which was released recently.
In a statement KPS president, K K Khosa said it is shocking to see that a person like Omar Abdullah who has been Chief Minister of J&K should have reacted in the manner that he has, to under play the obnoxious and villainous happenings in Kashmir during the holocaust period of January 1990 and thereafter when the entire population of Kashmiri Pandits was forced to leave their homes and hearths and flee due to the targeted onslaught by Jihadists and terrorists. What is more shocking is that Omar has tried to justify an indefensible folly of the ruler of the time his father, Dr. Farooq Abdullah who virtually abandoned the people of J&K and fled away from Kashmir to London, he added.
Khosa said this wrong doing could have been condoned if the erstwhile Chief Minister would have stated that it was an error of judgment to have acted in such a manner. By trying to pass the buck on to then Governor, Jagmohan who took charge after the exodus had already begun and to the BJP, and not to the V P Singh lead Government of India in which Mufti Mohammed Sayeed whose credentials had already become suspect in the aftermath of the happenings of the year 1986 was the Home Minister, Omar Abdullah has shown his naivety in spite of having been in politics for many years holding key Constitutional posts.
Khosa said another surprising and interesting aspect of his reaction and feigned ignorance is that despite having chaired umpteen meetings of the Unified Command in his capacity as the Chief Minister with Army Core Commanders as his security advisors and having been privy to every input from the security establishment. he has tried to escape from his own culpability as Chief Minister.
“I would advise him to understand and appreciate the changed environment in the aftermath of the abrogation of Articles 370 & 35A and use all his energy in creating a congenial atmosphere in the Valley to facilitate the return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits there with dignity, honor and with full sense of security, Khosa added.
