JAMMU, May 3: Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) Jammu Province today organised an impressive function in which State vice president of Bharatiya Janata Party, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi who was recently appointed as the Chairperson, Waqf Development Committee of the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India was the chief guest.
Chowdhary Manzoor Hussain Badhana, provincial president, Muslim Rashtriya Manch along with other leaders of MRM including Gulshan Kumar and Nazir Ahmad honoured Dr Darakhshan Andrabi on behalf of the people of the State and the organisation.
Speaking on the occasion, MRM Provincial president said that the appointment of Dr Darakhshan as the Chairperson of the Waqf Development Committee is an honour to entire State of Jammu & Kashmir. He said that Dr Andrabi is the uncompromising voice of peace and communal harmony in the State with equal popularity and acceptability in all regions, all ethnic and religious groups and all linguistic domains of the State.
In her speech, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi complimented the organisers for this honour and reiterated her commitment to give her hundred per cent in whatever capacity she is ordered to serve the people and the country. “I don’t sell dreams; I try to be a politician serving the people at the grass roots. I believe that politics is not the devils game only but it is and can be a divine game too”, said Dr Andrabi.
She said that her party eroded the minarets of divisive politics which has ruled the country for more than six decades and polarised people on casts, religions and regions. “Those who present themselves as secularists have divided the communities and ruled the country while hurting the basic bonding spirit of the society and I am happy and content with how the country is being ruled now on the real development formulae based on equality. In the long run this approach of Prime Minister will result in benefitting all,” said Darakhshan.
While speaking on her new assignment Dr Darakhshan said that Waqf properties throughout country have been in a mess and the present Government at the Centre has initiated tough measures to streamline the management of Waqf properties in different States of the country.
She said “earlier politicians mismanaged and embezzled and encroached Waqf properties for their political and personal gains and the present Government has evolved a hard stand to deal with such irregularities and mismanagements. “I feel proud to have been made a part of this clean up in Waqf and will put in my best to serve the cause,” said Chairperson of Waqf Development Committee.
