JAMMU, May 21: Shri Amarnath Barfani Langars’ Organization (SABLO) has demanded the Central as well as J&K Government to make foolproof arrangements for the safety and security of the Amarnath yatries as well as volunteers of Langars.
In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, SABLO said Shri Amarnathji Yatra is round the corner and our Bhandara organizations and its members are very much worried about the growing incidents of violence in Kashmir.
“We are very much scared about the safety of our members as well as the security of the yatries due to explosive situation prevailing in the valley”, the organization said, adding, during Yatra 2016, four members of Bhandara were burnt, stone pelted and looted by the miscreants while the J&K police as well as CRPF stood there as silent spectators and failed to provide protection to the life and property of Bhandara organisers.
In the letter, the SABLO demanded the administration to handover the charge of safety and security of yatries and bhandaras as well as maintenance and enforcement of law and order to the army or paramilitary forces to the complete exclusion of J&K police so that no anti social element may be able to disrupt the Yatra, as a large number of pilgrims have great faith and look forward to undertake this Yatra each year.
Apart from this, the organization demanded that only one force be given the responsibility on one route, temporary powers of Executive Magistrate should be given and one senior officer of the rank DIG should be posted at each base camp and enroute Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.
The letter was submitted to Joint Secretary, Ganesh Kumar and Special Director, Ministry of Home Affairs, by a delegation of SABLO, which was invited by the formers to discuss their demands and problems.
The officials assured that a high level meeting of senior most officers is going to be held on the issue on May 23 and their demands will be considered seriously.
