JAMMU, Mar 28: The State Administrative Council (SAC), which met here today under the chairmanship of Governor N N Vohra, approved the Master Plan-2031 of Katra Town.
The Revised Master Plan of Katra would be covering a local area of 79.56 Sq Kms in comparison to the present 11.06 Sq Kms.
Katra Town, situated on foothills of Trikuta Mountains, is the base camp for the pilgrimage to the renowned Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine. Huge commercial expansion of this town and its railway connectivity in the recent past had necessitated a mid-term revision of the existing Master Plan of Katra, which would have otherwise continued till 2021.
The revision has been made in pursuance of the provisions of the J&K Development Act, 1970 and Rule 13 of the J&K Development Authority Rules, 1976.
Wide publicity was given to the revised draft to seek suggestions/objections from the effected public. These suggestions were scrutinized by a committee under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Reasi and sustainable suggestions/ objections, with due approval of the Administrative Department, were incorporated in the final draft.
The final draft of the Master Plan-2031 of Katra Town was accordingly placed before the State Administrative Council for approval before its notification and implementation.
