ADELAIDE, South Australia, June 13: Medianet International-AsiaNet/– Sachin Aggarwal has been named as one of seven International Student Ambassadors for South Australia.
Sachin, who is originally from Hoshiarpur (Punjab) is studying a Master of Professional Accounting and Finance at the University of South Australia in Adelaide. His university is a short walk from Adelaide Oval where the India versus Pakistan World Cup cricket match will be played in 2015.
Sachin was chosen for the student ambassador role by StudyAdelaide, a statutory authority of the South Australian Government. The ambassadors are leaders in the international student community who spread the word about Adelaide, the South Australian capital and premier student city.
Sachin is using his extensive social media networks to share StudyAdelaide’s first Destination Adelaide film. The short film, which premieres in Adelaide this week, is an authentic look at an international students’ life in the city.
Sachin speaks with great passion about his adopted city and his face lights up when we mention the newly redeveloped Adelaide Oval. He is a keen volunteer and helped the South Australian Tourism Commission in a customer service role during the most recent Ashes Series.
‘Life in Adelaide is like living in home and I never feel away,’ Sachin says. ‘I believe Adelaide is unique because it is very peaceful and transportation system is really good. Also, Adelaide is quite affordable and is a city of festivals.’
Education Adelaide chair Bill Spurr says that Sachin is a fantastic ambassador for both Adelaide and for his home country of India.
‘Sachin’s enthusiasm and love for Adelaide shines through and we are sure, that with his help, even more Indian students will choose our city.’
There are more than 3000 Indian students in Adelaide and they have been welcomed by a large Indian community. Sachin and the student ambassador team help to run special events to ensure that Indian students feel welcome, supported and right at home.
