Sir,
The revelations made by Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar about former Indian coach Greg Chappell in his book ‘Playing it my way’ whether true or false does not concern us much.
However, it is true that during his tenure Indian Cricket suffered terribly. The humiliating defeat during World Cup played in West Indies sent shock waves across Indian Cricket fans. There were great expectations from former batting meastro that Indian Cricket may touch new heights, but that did not happen. Rather Indian Cricket reached its nadir. The players-seniors or juniors felt that they were treated shabbily by the Coach. Cricket players like Harbajan Singh, Zaheer Khan and Laxman too have criticised the attitude of Greg Chappell towards players. Though Greg Chappell has refuted the allegations, there seems nobody from India who can support him.
Unless there is synergy between players and coach, there are remote chances for a team to succeed. The revelations should be an eye-opener for those who may handle the affairs of Indian Cricket in the future.
Yours etc….
