JAMMU, June 19: Ahead of his scheduled visit to Siachen Base Camp on the eve of fourth International Day of Yoga (21s t June), where over 200 soldiers will attend the Yoga session, Sadhguru, the founder of Isha Foundation, today visited the Indian Army base in Leh where he addressed a group of over 350 soldiers and officers.
Isha Foundation’s Hatha Yoga teachers are conducting Yoga sessions, designed by Sadhguru particularly for people at high altitude, at both the Army bases preceding Sadhguru’s arrival. Sadhguru will speak to the soldiers on a range of issues, particularly the importance of Yoga for health, wellbeing and inner balance at high altitudes.
Ahead of his visit, Sadhguru said, “It will be a privilege to be at Siachen on this very special occasion of International Day of Yoga. Our soldiers posted in high altitudes, particularly in Siachen, one of the most challenging and vulnerable battlefields on the planet, put their lives at stake to protect the nation. It is paramount to equip them with Yogic tools of transformation for health, inner balance and wellbeing on all levels.”
At high altitudes, Indian soldiers face several health complications including high altitude pulmonary oedema, acute mountain sickness, frost bite chilblains, hypothermia, snow blindness among many others.
Under Sadhguru’s guidance, this year, Isha Foundation teachers and volunteers are in the process of imparting scientifically designed Yoga modules to India’s Armed and Paramilitary forces, including the Indian Army, Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, Central Industrial Security Force, Railway Protection Force, Kendriya Vidyalaya Schools, Spice Jet flights, FICCI among others.
Continuing its effort to make Yoga available to all in the world, Isha Foundation is working towards training 10 lakh Yoga Veeras who will impart a simple process of Yoga to at least one person in the coming year. Isha Hatha Yoga School has been conducting yoga programs for Border Security Force to equip them to guard the frontiers of the nation.
