JAMMU, Apr 13: Additional General Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference and former minister, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, today accused the BJP of promoting divisive politics in the name of ultra nationalism and Hindutva, warning that such tactics threaten India’s unity and secular character.
Addressing a public meeting at Haripur in the Marh Assembly Constituency, organised by Baru Ram Bhagat, Sadhotra said the BJP’s repeated use of religion to polarise voters is not only unethical but goes against the spirit of the Constitution.
“India’s strength lies in its unity in diversity. Creating rifts among communities for electoral gains is harmful and regressive,” Sadhotra said.
He added that any attempt to disturb the country’s communal harmony could derail the development agenda and weaken the nation’s global image.
He said that true nationalism means justice for all and equal rights for every community, not targeting minorities or spreading hate.
Sadhotra urged the youth and right-thinking citizens to reject divisive forces and uphold India’s democratic and secular values.
He said the National Conference remains committed to an inclusive and united India, and called on political parties to focus on real issues instead of vote-bank politics based on religion.
He expressed confidence that BJP’s attempts to divide people will fail, as the people of India have always upheld secularism and unity.
Prominent leaders present at the event included Rakesh Sharma, Khajoor Lal Bhagat, Man Mohan, Amreek Singh, Charan Dass Bhagat, Ajeet, Sham Lal, and Swaran Singh.
