JAMMU, Mar 9: To mark the Day of Bua Ashapurni, Jammu and Kashmir Lakhotra Biradari organized a grand function at Saharan, here today.
Amid Bhajans and Kirtan, hundreds of men, women and children from Lakhotra Biradari and its relative clans, participated in the function and paid their obeisance to Bua Ashapurni to seek her benevolent blessings for their welfare.
The Minister for Planning & Development Ajay Kumar Sadhotra was the chief guest on the occasion while former MLA Sat Paul Lakhotra, president of J&K Batwal Welfare Association, Subedar Ghasita Ram Lakhotra, president, J&K Lakhotra Biradari and R L Kaith, Special Secretary, Sri Guru Gyagi Foundation, were the guests of honour.
The Minister gave away ‘Certificates of Appreciation’ to the meritorious students and ‘Awards of Honour’ to social workers for contributing tirelessly in all aspects of voluntary service. He stressed for spread of literacy in the Biradari and called for unity, simplicity and discipline among the Biradari members.
J&K Batwal Welfare Association urged the Minister to pursue the memorandum which it submitted to the Government of Jammu and Kashmir through him last month.
Prominent among those who participated in the function included Capt Ram Lal Sargotra, Capt Kamal Dass Kaith, Capt Puran Chand Kaith, Subedar Baldev Chand Sandhu, Naib Sub Pagu Ram, Hav Mohan Lal Motan, Hav Karan Lal Lakhotra, Naib Sarpanch Som Nath Tugga, Piara Lal Lakhotra and others.
