JAMMU, Mar 20: National Conference (NC) Additional General Secretary and former Minister, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra, today praised Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his recent initiatives aimed at providing relief to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking at a public meeting in Jandial, Nagrota, Sadhotra expressed his support for the one-time amnesty on power bills and the promotion of pilgrim tourism in the region.
Sadhotra welcomed the announcement of the amnesty, stating that it would provide much-needed relief to consumers burdened with outstanding electricity dues.
He emphasized that the decision reflected the Chief Minister’s commitment to addressing the economic challenges faced by the people and ensuring financial stability for consumers.
The former minister also commended the Chief Minister’s efforts to promote pilgrim tourism, particularly in Jammu.
He pointed out that developing religious tourism would boost the local economy, create job opportunities, and enhance the region’s cultural and spiritual reputation.
He urged stakeholders to work together to improve tourism infrastructure, which would contribute to overall economic growth.
Sadhotra also lauded the assurance given by the Chief Minister regarding the equitable distribution of Government advertisements to newspapers.
He stressed that a fair and balanced media environment is crucial for upholding democracy and addressing public concerns effectively.
In addition, Sadhotra expressed confidence in the timely clearance of pending SRO-43 cases, which would provide relief to families who have lost their earning members.
He urged for expedited processing of these cases on humanitarian grounds, as they directly impact the livelihoods of bereaved families.
Praising the Chief Minister’s leadership and pro-people policies, Sadhotra reiterated the National Conference’s commitment to social justice, economic empowerment, and inclusive governance in the region.
He called on the public to support the government’s efforts to implement these progressive reforms, ensuring that all segments of society benefit from them.
The meeting also saw speeches from other party leaders, including Mohd Ayub Malik, Raghbir Singh Manhas, Chander Mohan Sharma, Randhir Singh Chib, and Ajay Singh.
