Sadhotra inspects pace of work on Bikram Chowk flyover

JAMMU, Sept 21: Minister for Planning and Development, Labour and Employment, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today called upon the Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) functionaries to redouble their efforts to ensure time bound completion of flyover at Bikram Chowk.
The Minister said this while inspecting the pace of work on   1.3 kilometer flyover project   taken up by Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) at a cost of Rs. 95.50 crore.
The Minister was accompanied by Chief Executive Officer, Economic Reconstruction Agency, Tehseen Mustafa, besides senior officers of concerned departments.
The Minister said that Government was committed to make every endeavour to improve road connectivity by constructing flyovers, bridges and roads in urban as well as rural pockets. He said that the flyover will go a long way in reducing traffic congestion in the capital city, besides smooth regulation of vehicular movement   in Jammu city.
Asking the executing agency to ensure   completion of this vital project in stipulated time frame, Sadhotra said that special thrust should be laid on the quality of the work.
He also stressed on the engineers to see that the commuters are not put to inconvenience while the work is executed on the project. The Minister said that on its completion, the flyover will greatly help in easing pressure of traffic on the city roads.
He said the Coalition Government, led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, is endeavoring hard for planned and sustained development of the State keeping in view its future requirements.
The ERA authorities assured that the work on flyover would be completed in stipulated time and also proper care will be taken to avoid any inconvenience to general public.
Earlier, the Minister took stock of work on 18 crore drainage project at Channi Himmat executed by ERA. The Minister issued directions to the executing agency to accelerate the pace of work to complete the project within specific time period. He said that with the completion of the project,  40,000 souls of Channi and adjoining area would be benefited.
