JAMMU, Oct 13: Minister for Planning and Development, Labour and Employment, Ajay K. Sadhotra, undertook a day long tour of the border villages like Chakrali, Pangore, Goal Pattan, Deore Napu, Lalyal Camp, Sui and Kanachak in Block Marh to assess the damage caused to the residential houses in mortar shelling from across the border. The villagers apprised him about the problems being faced due to unabated and unprovoked mortar shelling from across the border.
While addressing the natives of the village, the Minister said that the Government is well aware of their woes and sufferings and assured the people of the area that the Govt is much concerned about their plight and is doing best possible to mitigate their problems and committed to provide adequate relief to the aggrieved families who suffered huge losses in the mortar shelling from across the border targeting the civilian population.
The Minister said that the Government has made adequate arrangements like relief camps to accommodate the people living in the forward villages with all adequate necessary arrangements for their safety and the revenue authorities have already been directed to make assessments of the losses and provide relief to the sufferers and 5 marlas of land is also being proposed at the safer places for the persons living in the forward villages to shift in case of any shelling on the border.
Regarding the damage caused to the standing crops due to heavy rainfall and storm, the Minister further stated that orders have been issued to the revenue authorities for special Girdwari of such damaged standing crops to provide compensation to the owners.
