JAMMU, Jan 28: Civil Safai Karamchari Union (CSKU) here today demanded recruitment of more Safai Karamchari as the limits of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has increased from 23 to 75 wards.
Addressing a press conference CSKU leader, Rinku Gill said, with the increase in work area of JMC it needs more Safai Karamchari to properly maintain cleanliness in all the wards.
“So the authorities concerned should recruit more Safai Karamchari,” he continued.
Gill also said that under the proposed recruitment of 600 Safai Karamchari, JMC should give priority to those already working with it on NGO basis for years with the hope of retting regularised one day.
He told reporters that JMC should also increase the wages of daily wagers working with it to Rs. 18,000 from the existing Rs. 6,700 as J&K has now become an Union Territory (UT) so the grades should also at par with other UTs.
The Union leader also raised the demand of regularisation of 32 drivers working with JMC for years.
The demand of two and half day salary for field sanitation staff was also raised along with the demand of promotion of drivers and cleaners working with JMC since long.
