Addressing media persons here today at Press Club, president of the Union, Ghulam Ali, said that poor Safai Karamcharis were always discriminated and used for just agitational purposes by various unions.
He demanded that Sunday be kept as holiday for poor Safai Karamcharies at par with other Government employees.
The other demands highlighted by Ghulam Ali included release of pending arrears of Safai Karamcharis, regularization of Safai Karamcharis serving on daily wages, making new appointments on posts lying vacant at various hospitals, municipal committees and other departments. He appealed the Government to release arrears of Safai Karamcharis time to time, as there is no other source of income for them.
He further appealed the administration to redress all the grievances of Safai Karamcharis of the Shrine Board Katra without further loss of time.
