BHADERWAH, Dec 30: To press their demands, daily wagers in different Municipal Committees continued their strike.
Poor sanitation hits different towns here as Safai Karamcharis Union working in Municipal Committees of Banihal, Ramban, Doda, Bhadarwah, Thathri and Kishtwar continued their strike demanding their regularisation and implementation of MWA.
Mounds of stinking and spreading garbage have piled up in many areas due to strike by the municipality workers continued for the fourth day today.
Contractual and daily wage Safai Karamchari and other staff of MCB (Municipal Committee Bhadarwah), who are on the strike in support of their demands to regularise their services held a strong protest here at Pasri Bus Stand. They also appeal to LG to personally intervene into the matter.
Even after passing of several years, a number of safai karamcharis and sewermen working on contract basis are still waiting for regularisation of their jobs. Notably, a number of safai karamcharis have been demanding regularisation of jobs for a long time, but to no avail.
Protesting employees of MCB said that they need regularisation of their jobs for a secure future for them and their families.
Mohd Ishaq, General Secretary Safai Karamcharis Union Bhadarwah said that their monthly income is very low and it is hard to meet the daily needs. The Government should take necessary measures for the welfare of Safai Karamcharis, sewermen and other daily wage staff.
Protesting employees have appealed to LG to personally intervene into their matter, so that they can live a respectful life.
Others who spoke on the occasion Mohammad Ayaz, Brijesh Yogi, Sanjay Kumar, Nageena Begum, Arun Kumar, Basharat Ganai, Mohammad Ishaq and others.
ADC Bhadarwah Rakesh Kumar said, “We have taken up the matter with higher authorities to resolve the issue at the earliest”.
“I have also talked to authorities about maintenance of sanitization of the town as due to strike of employees, there is mounting uncollected garbage in different areas”, he added.
However, the residents and shopkeepers within MC limits expressed their resentment against the unpleasant situation and concerned about outbreak of disease.
