UDHAMPUR, Nov 9: Safai Karamcharis of the Municipal Committee Udhampur continued their indefinite dharna today, warning of intensified agitation if their demands are not met by the Government.
The sanitation workers organized their protest under the banner of the Urban Local Body Safai Karamchari Union Udhampur, in front of the Municipal Committee office. The protesting workers are demanding the regularization of all eligible sanitation workers who have served in temporary positions for over seven years, along with exemptions from the recently imposed recruitment rules for Class IV jobs, which include Safai Karamcharis and Drivers.
They are also calling for the cancellation of the New Pension Scheme (NPS) in favor of reinstating the old pension scheme. Key demands include the immediate resolution of cases under SRO 43, the creation of new posts for Safai Karamcharis in municipal councils and committees, and the cancellation of outsourced contracts to ensure job security for local workers.
