Safai Karamcharis threaten to go on strike

JAMMU, Feb 14: Civic Safai Karamchari Union of JMC today threatened to go on Kam Choro Hartal if their pending demands were not resolved immediately.
A meeting of the Union in this concern was held today under the presidentship of Dev Anand Gill, who reiterated their demands including release of DPC of all cadres, 2 and a half day of salary to all the field staff, creating 496 posts of Safai Karamcharis as assured by the Municipal Administrator, enhancement of wages of casual labourers from Rs 2100 to Rs 3750, reorganization of JMC in letter and spirit, creation of all the posts of JMC from lower to higher level on the analogy of Srinagar municipal Corporation and provision of shoes and masks for the Safai Karamcharis.
The Union decided to go on Kam Choro Hartal if the demands of Safai Karamcharis were not met within 15 days. The meeting further decided that regular protests would be held from 1pm to 3 pm in front of the office of JMC from February 25 to 28.
