Sagar asks officers to speed up developmental works

SRINAGAR, Aug 9: Asking the officers to speed up the developmental works undertaken by the Government for the beautification of the historic old city Srinagar, the Minister for Rural Development, Panchyati Raj, Law Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Mohammad Sagar today said that the Government is committed to sustained development of the State.
The Minister was interacting the scores of deputations during his extensive tour of the old city Srinagar.
Director Tourism Kashmir, Talat Parvez, Chief Engineer R & B, Mushtaq Ahmed Lone and other senior officers of JKPCC, SMC, Irrigation and other departments accompanied the Minister.
While asking the officers to speed up the pace of work on the renovation of Zainakadal, the Minister was told that it would be completed and thrown open to the public before Id-ul-Zuha. He asked the officers to speed up the process of work on the beautification and renovation of Zainakadal, Mehraj Gunj and its catchment areas as the same would go along way in ensuring the preservation of the old architectural pattern besides boosting tourism in the area.
Mr. Sagar also inspected the ongoing work on prestigious cable car project at Rainawari and directed the Managing Director to ensure that it is completed within the shortest possible time. He said that it would go a long way in boosting the tourist activities as well as for the convenience of the devotees coming to pay obeisance at the revered shrine of Makdoom Shaib(RA).
The Minister also asked the officers to fast track the work being done on the prestigious Syeed Mirakh Shah road and directed them to ensure that proper compensation is being paid to the families whose structures are being acquired. He was told that the conduit at the Dal Gate will be thrown open to the public shortly.
Responding to the demands of the locals, the Minister announced Rs 21 lakh for the augmentation of electricity at Budgerr and Suklipora, Ali Kadal out of his Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
