POONCH, June 27: National Conference General Secretary and Minister for Rural Development Ali Mohammed Sagar on Friday cautioned people against political jugglers, saying they have nothing to offer except destruction and devastation.
In a direct reference to People’s Democratic Party, Mr Sagar said its role has been dubious undemocratic and anti people that led the State to political turmoil, uncertainty and instability.
Mr Sagar, along with Provincial President Devender Singh Rana and Minister for Planning Ajay Sad-hotra, was addressing National Confe-rence convention in Poonch and a rally at Arai after inspecting various development works at Gulpur, Gali Pindi, Shahpur and Mandi Azmabad.
“It is intriguing that a person credited with bloody past is portraying himself as a Messiah”, Mr Sagar said while spelling out the dubious role of Mufti Mohammed Sayeed in trampling democratically elected Governments led by National Conference at the behest of his mentors in New Delhi, plunging the Kashmir Valley in morass in early 1990 and weaving conspiracies against the people of Jammu and Kashmir from time to time.
The General Secretary recalled the horrendous 2010 summer when defeated political actors resorted to intrigues and pushed Kashmir to the wall. “It was sagacious and dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah which reversed the situation and brought peace and tranquillity in the Valley”.
Responding to various issues raised by the public representatives, Mr Sagar said their concern on left over areas under RBA will be taken up with the Chief Minister earnestly.
Speaking on the occasion, MLC and Provincial President National Conference Jammu, Devender Singh Rana highlighted the developmental plank of Omar led Government, saying it has endeavoured to uplift the people of border and backward areas like Poonch.
Taking dig at loud speak of PDP leadership, Mr Rana said they miss no opportunity to take credit for something not under their domain even remotely. He said PDP has perfected in hoodwinking public opinion for indulbging in deceit and falsehood.
Referring to the headway achieved in cross border trade and restoration of communication link for the facility of trading community here and across, Mr Rana said this has become possible after Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took up the issue with the Union Government in New Delhi recently.
Minister for Planning Ajay Sadhotra, while enumerating achievements registered by the Government in the past five and half years, said sound foundation has been laid for infrastructural development with focus on public utility services.
He supported the demand of locals with regard to grant of RBA status to various areas and said the criterion fixed for the purpose needs to re-examined.
MLA Poonch Aijaz Jan and MLC Dr Shehnaz Ganai also addressed the rallies and highlighted various issues of public importance.
The Provincial President and Mr Sadhotra also addressed a rally at Mendhar earlier.
Assailing political opportunists for their anti-people policies, Deputy Chairman Legislative Council Javed Rana said that National Conference is the only party that can take care of the political aspirations and developmental needs of the three regions of the State.
