Sagar conducts Awami Rabita tour of Pattan

PATTAN, June 28: As a part of Awami Rabita Programme campaign the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Ali Mohammad Sagar today conducted an extensive tour of Pattan and its adjoining areas today.
He was accompanied by Director Rural Development, Kashmir, Mir Altaf Ahmad and other senior officers of different departments.
Interacting with the people, the Minister said that the Government is committed to ensure need based and sustained development of all parts of the State with special focus on rural and far-flung areas. In this regard, several flagship schemes have been launched, which are aimed to change the socio-economic conditions of people of rural areas. He urged the people to actively participate in the developmental activities and implementation of various programmes so that benefits of such schemes percolate down to the needy.
Ever since Coalition Government headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took over the reins of the State, it endeavoured on further strengthening the democratic set up and decentralization of powers to the PRIs. The Government initiated various programmes for the benefits of people at large. It ensured vibrant Panchayti Raj System and empowered people at grass root level so that they can contribute directly in the development process and help in framing the policies and programmes of the State keeping in view the merit.
Mr. Sagar said that it was due to the tireless efforts of the Government that the peaceful environs have been maintained in the State and now the people are reaping the dividends. “The people must understand that the parties which are now trying to project themselves as the well-wishers have always played the politics of deceit and deception and misled the innocent masses with hollow slogans and did nothing on ground. They have always given preference to their personal and political interests rather than mitigating the problems of common man”, he maintained.
The Minister also inspected the pace of work on different Panchayat Ghars which are under execution in the areas and directed to the officers to ensure their time bound completion.
The Minister also directed the officers to take up the remaining works on various link roads connecting different villages of the area to improve the road connectivity. He also issued instructions to the officers to improve basic facilities like drinking water, electricity and other essential services in the area.
