Sagar for early completion of restoration work on Dastageer shrine

SRINAGAR, Sept 11: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Ali Mohammad Sagar today directed the executing agencies to ensure early completion of the restoration/renovation work of the Dastageer Sahib shrine, so that it can be dedicated to the devotees.
The Minster was addressing officers during a review meeting convened to discuss the status of works undertaken by the Government including the restoration of the revered Shrine of Dastageer Sahib (R.A), construction of New Zainakadal Bridge, Rainawari Hospital, construction of various community halls in the city and other related works.
District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Farooq Ahmed Shah, Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Dr. G.N.Qasba, Managing director, JKPCC and other senior officers of various departments were also present in the meeting.
Mr. Sagar while referring to the restoration work of the Dastagir Sahib shrine directed the officers to ensure that it gets completed within the shortest possible time, so that it can be dedicated to the public. He said that sections of the society are  emotionally as well as  spiritually associated with it and it is the endeavour of the Government to ensure that the work gets completed as early as possible as has been the commitment of the Government. “The agencies and the departments associated with the restoration work should work in close co-ordination, so that the timely completion is ensured, besides lacunae if any are removed”, he added.
The Minister also directed the concerned department to speed up the pace of work on the new Zainakadal Bridge and ensure its timely completion. He said that the necessary acquisition if any be done, so that the area is developed on the heritage pattern in accordance with the already taken up plan of beautification of the whole area.
Mr. Sagar also asked the officers to complete the remaining work on the community halls being taken up by the Government for the general convenience of the public as soon as possible, so that they can be commissioned. He said that these serve as important centres for the people to celebrate their social and other related functions.
While directing the officers to hold meetings at regular intervals to monitor the status of the development works, the Minister said that these are very important as it would go a long way in ensuring speedy completion of various developmental programmes undertaken by the Government for the beautification and development of the Srinagar city.
