Acquisition of properties for projects

SRINAGAR, May 25: While asking the officers to ensure that the pace of various developmental works undertaken by the Government in Srinagar city is speeded up, the Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Ali Mohammad Sagar today underscored the need for ensuring the proper rehabilitation of the persons whose properties are acquired while implementing various developmental projects.
The Minister was addressing a high level meeting convened to monitor the status of implementation of various developmental works undertaken by the Government. Additional District Development Commissioner, Atta -ullaha- Qadri, Chief Engineer, R&B, Mushtaq Lone, Commissioner Municipal Corporation G. N Qasba, Chief Town Planner, and other senior officers of District Administration were present.
Advocating for the proper and adequate rehabilitation of the persons whose properties are being acquired by the Government for execution of the projects, Mr. Sagar said “we have to ensure that they are adequately compensated and the valuation should be done on the existing market base so that they can get the requisite compensation”. He further said that compensation should be provided to the shopkeepers whose structures have been acquired by way of allotting them shops at alternative places.
Directing the Chief engineer, R&B to undertake road widening from Nowapora onwards, the Minister said that KZP Road project is one of the prestigious developmental works initiated by the Government for ensuring proper channelization of the transport facility in the old Srinagar city maintaining that adequate decongestion of the traffic would be ensured. He also directed the officers to ensure that the structures acquired at victory crossing Khanayar are adequately compensated besides steps taken to properly locate the shopkeepers at Rainawari whose structures would be acquired.
While asking the officers to ensure that the acquired structures at Zaina Kadal are removed, the Minister said “we have to ensure that the work on beautification of Zainakadal and its catchment areas on heritage pattern is speeded up as the area has a great historical significance in socio political history of the State”.
