Sagar for sustainable development of Ganderbal town

SRINAGAR, July 25: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Ali Mohammad Sagar has directed the officers to ensure the sustainable development of Ganderbal town and its catchment areas so that it comes up as a model district of the State.
The Minister was speaking at a meeting which was convened here today to discuss the developmental activities and programmes being initiated by the Government in Ganderbal, Faakh, Gulab Bagh, Fakir Gujjari, Pandach and other areas of the district.
District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal, Sarmand Hafeez, Director Rural Development, Kashmir, Mir Altaf Ahmad, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Dr. G. N. Qasba and other senior officers of R&B, PHE, PDD, RDD and local representatives of the areas  were present on the occasion.
Mr. Sagar directed the officers to speed up the pace of work on these areas as Chief Minister has recently released an amount of Rs. 54 lakh out of his Constituency Development Fund to ensure holistic development and upgradation of basic amenities in these areas. He said that the Government was committed for ensuring sustainable development of the Ganderbal district so that it comes up as one of the model districts of the State. He maintained that the directions have already been passed down the line to ensure that the pace of developmental activities undertaken by the Government is accelerated.
The Minister also directed the officers of PHE Department to ensure that the Water Filtration Plant providing drinking water to the areas is augmented properly so that the people do not face any inconvenience. He also asked the Deputy Commissioner to put in place a fool-proof mechanism by which the problems, if any being faced by the people are addressed within the shortest possible time.
Mr. Sagar also directed the officers to speed up the works  under various other schemes like MGNREGA, NABARD, PMGSY, RGGVY, NHRM, Bharat Nirman etc so that the people of these areas get benefitted from these programmes, which have been instrumental in changing the socio-economic profile of the State.
