JAMMU: Minister for Rural Development, Abdul Haq today said that the Saansad Adarash Gram Yojana (SAGY) envisages holistic development of a Gram Panchayat adopted by Member Parliament (MP).
“The scheme envisages development of model Gram Panchayats under the leadership of the MPs” he said in reply to a question by Aijaz Ahmed Mir.
The Scheme envisages focus of every scheme and programme of each department implemented in the district under the monitoring of concerned Deputy Commissioners, he added.
Giving specific details about the works done in Mailhooora Gram Panchayat being developed under SAGY, he said 28 works related to rural connectivity, water harvesting, irrigation, agriculture and sanitation worth Rs 39. 54 Lakh were carried out in the Panchayat during financial year 2015-16 and 2016-17.
He further informed that under ‘Swaach Bharat Mission’, 94 households were provided assistance to construct latrines, while 5 community sanitation complexes were also constructed. He said as an additional effort to make this Adarash Gram Panchayat Open Defecation Free (ODF), GP department, as a special initiative, in collaboration with M/S Idea Cellular Ltd under its Corporate Responsibility, released Rs 23 Lakh for construction of 230 IHHLs and six community sanitary complexes in the said GP.
The Minister further informed that 32 eligible families of the village were provided assistance under Indira Awas Yojna (IAY), 30 Self Help Groups covering 300 households formed under NRLM in 2105-16 and 4 automatic Milk Collection Centres installed.
Similarly Rs 15000 each was provided as revolving fund to 10 SHGs and Rs 40000 each as community investment to 7 others (SHGs), the Minister said. He also said that all flood affected families were provided assistance by Revenue Department, while entire population of the village was covered under Jan Dhan Yojana (JDY) by J&K Bank.
While listing other facilities, initiatives, he said ATM has been installed in the village, local road up-graded by R&B, power infrastructure up-graded, repaired, Hybrid variety of seeds, spray motors and tool kits provided to by agriculture department and veterinary Sub-Centres established by animal husbandry department.
