Sahar residents on hunger strike

JAMMU, Nov 28: To save the environment and natural resources, the residents of Panchyat Sahar who were sitting on protest dharna since last nine days against the mining in Sahar Khud area under the Panchyat Sahar sat on hunger strike today.
Meanwhile numbers of people assembled on seventh day on the bank of Sahar Khud in the Panchyat led by Sarpanch Bholi Singh and Naib Sarpanch, Vikas Sharma and held a protest against the mining in Sahar Kud. They were raising slogans against the Mining Department. The Sarpanch Bholi Singh said that it is very unfortunate that without consent of Panchyat and residents, the Geology and Mining Department allotted a Mining Block in Sahar Khud which will affect the flora and fauna. He said people wanted to save the water resources in the area and demand immediate stopping of the mining.
