RAJOURI, Mar 3: Secretary to Government, Education Department, Ajit Kumar Sahu today laid the foundation stone of Government Degree College at Doongi.
The ceremony was held in presence of District Development Commissioner Rajouri Mohammad Aijaz Asad, Rashid Inqalabi Special Secretary Higher Education. Principal of Government PG College Rajouri and XEn PWD Rajouri were also present on the occasion.
Senior officers of PWD (R&B) and the district administration were also present. A large number of people from the catchment areas, various local Sarpanchs, Panchs and other people attended the occasion.
The concerned XEn PWD informed that the college will be constructed on 75 kanals of land and the approximate cost of academic and administrative block is 1060.77 lacs.
DDC informed that more than 60000 people from 28 villages will be benefitted from the college and the construction work shall be completed within two years after allotment of the work.
Speaking on the occasion, Sahu said that no investment is more than the one on education. He said Government has approved 50 new Degree colleges in the State and Doongi is one of them.
He said Government is putting efforts in making all necessary facilities available to the schools especially staff and infrastructure. He said that a long-pending demand of the people of the border area has been met today and Governor’s administration is committed to improve higher education scenario in the State.
The Secretary also inaugurated 4 additional class rooms at Government Middle School Doongi. It was informed that the total construction cost is 20.24 lacs. The work on these class rooms was started on 09-02-2018 and completed on 07-08-2018.
